UNF thread bolts and screws conform to the Unified National Fine (UNF) thread standard, distinguishing themselves by their finer pitch compared to the Unified National Coarse (UNC) threads. This finer pitch translates to a greater number of threads per inch, resulting in a snugger and more precise fit when engaging with a corresponding part. Identified by specifying the nominal diameter followed by the number of threads per inch, UNF threads, such as a 1/4-inch diameter bolt with 28 threads per inch denoted as 1/4-28 UNF, boast a finer pitch than their UNC counterparts. This finer pitch enhances the number of engaged threads, thereby fortifying the connection.
