The XJ40, mainstay of Jaguar production from 1986 to 1994, was the last saloon in which Sir William Lyons had any style involvement. It broke new ground with it's technical sophistication and reintroduced the marque to a younger buying public. Today the XJ40 - more reliable and economic to buy and run - is an important 'entry level' model for first time Jaguar buyers and has a large following.
